Felix Ortiz

I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York.  It was there that I was surrounded by the sounds of Salsa, Merengue and Bachata.  It was my grandmother who influenced me to dance pushing me around the living room floor at Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years as a little boy.

My love for the dance only grew from there.  When I moved back to Albany, NY in 1999 I longed for a place to rekindle that same passion I had as a kid in the Bronx.

I have been blessed with a full time job that has provided me the opportunity to learn and practice different styles of salsa dancing all over the world.  My travels  for business, vacation and Salsa Congresses have taken me to over fifteen different cities and three countries including Miami, Orlando, Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Montreal (Canada) and Copenhagen, Denmark (Europe).

I have been all over the salsa community here at home!

  • 2001 - Co-founded & provided start up capital for 2Dance4Ever Dance Studio.
  • 2001 - Introduced Casino Rueda to the community after a Salsa Congress in Orlando, FL.
  • 2001 - Original Member of "The Salsa Squad" performing across the Capital District including the Latin Festival.
  • 2001 - New York Salsa Congress.  Mambo On2 & On1 workshops with the best instructors NYC has to offer.
  • 2002 - Miami Salsa Congress.  Mambo On1 and Casino Rueda workshops with the best instructors Miami has to offer.
  • 2003-2004 - Taught youth of the Liberty Partnership Program (LPP) Latin Dance after school weekly.
  • 2002-2004 - Regular Mambo On2 Coursework with the Copacabana Dancers at Dance On2 Studios in Manhattan. 2004-Present - Teach, mentor other instructors, host Latin events and perform at various talent shows.

After finishing up my Masters at RPI I began taking lessons in May of 2001.  I quickly grew into an instructor teaching my first class in October of 2001.  I knew then that teaching salsa was something I was born to do.  Feedback from students and dance partners encouraged me to form my own studio/dance program.

I look forward to the opportunity to share with you the same passion I have for salsa dancing through my programs, events and lessons.  See you soon!

No person is an island and I am no exception.  If it wasn't for the support of my family, my loving wife Lana and our four little women (Gabbie. Lexi, Julia and Baby Lina) I would not be doing this.

I love you all!
